Does your plumbing have a water leak?

Plumbing problems are hard to detect since it always starts out with a small leak, until it snowballs itself into a larger problem. Also, most of the plumbing work is almost always hidden away behind walls and under floors, making it hard to monitor them on a regular basis. Here are a few tips to help you check if you have a leak in your plumbing-

·         Your water bill is a great indicator. Usually, your water bill should stay more or les the same. Small changes in the bill can be ignored, but if the water bill continues to rise over a period of months, then it is a good sign that you have a leak in your plumbing system.

·         If you have a running water meter, then you can just shut off all the taps at your home for a couple of hours and monitor the meter. If the meter continues to run, even after you have shut off all the possible water outlets, then it is evident that you have a leak.

·         The third most important aspect in identifying if you have a leak is a significant drop in the water pressure of your taps. This can not only help identify the leak itself but can also help isolate the area of the leak, depending in which locations the water pressure drops.
